EXPLORING for both gold riches and endless sources of energy at the same time might seem the stuff of ancient alchemy, but on New Zealand's volcanic plateau near the tourist resorts of Rotorua and Lake Taupo, the international Glass Earth project is trying to do just that. Report by Lindsay Clark
